Position: Assistant Professor of Counseling in Educational Settings (tenure-track), College of Education

Department: Special Educational Services/Instruction

Description:

The Counseling in Educational Setting program at Rowan University is searching for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor rank. The successful candidate will teach graduate courses in the Master's level school counseling program and supervise students during their clinical experiences. Scholarly productivity, including professional presentations and publications is expected as well as an active professional engagement with the field. In addition, the candidate will provide service to the department, college, university, community, and profession. Some teaching off campus at regional extension sites and through on-line instruction may be required.

Qualifications:

A doctorate in Counselor Education, or closely related field, from a CACREP approved program is required, as well as relevant preparation, certification and experience in the school counseling field. In addition the successful candidate will possess:

  • Knowledge of current best practices in school counseling
  • Knowledge of the National Standards for the delivery of school counseling services.
  • Ability to teach courses in individual, group, and career counseling procedures.
  • Enthusiasm for mentoring students of diverse background
  • Ability to conduct and supervise research.
  • Ability to supervise students in their field experiences
  • Investment in being an active contributor in a learning community environment.
  • A strong identification with the school counseling profession
  • Ability and/or interest in developing and teaching online courses

Starting Date: September 1, 2010

The College of Education at Rowan University is housed in a new, state of the art facility. The programs within the Department of Special Educational Services/Instruction are NCATE accredited. The Counseling in Educational Setting Program is currently seeking CACREP accreditation. The department's atmosphere reflects the invigorating environment at Rowan University which is a vibrant, comprehensive state institution with a present enrollment of over 11,000 students. The university is located in a suburban, residential setting in southern New Jersey and is less than 20 miles from Philadelphia.

All positions are contingent upon budget appropriations.
