Position: Assistant Professor, Director of Choral Studies - 3/4-Time Temporary, College of Fine and Performing Arts

Description:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to conducting small and large choral ensembles, graduate choral conducting, choral literature, studio voice and/or courses in the music curriculum that best match the candidate's abilities and the needs of the Department of Music. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain a high profile in the regional, state and national choral associations as well as regularly interact with area teachers and music supervisors. Active recruitment is a must.

Qualifications:

Doctor of Musical Arts or Master of Music with significant professional experience required. All candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of secondary school/college level teaching experience or other professional choral conducting experience.

Starting Date: September 1, 2010

General Info:

The Department of Music enrollment ranges between 200 and 235 students and has a faculty of 20 full-time and 45 adjunct teachers. Areas of specialization include undergraduate and graduate degree programs in music education, composition, jazz studies, performance and the Bachelor of Arts. The vocal division presents annual full-scale opera productions, choral concerts, regular division voice seminars and master classes as well as collaborations with other performance areas of the university. The department's atmosphere reflects the invigorating environment at Rowan University which is a vibrant, comprehensive state institution with a present enrollment of over 11,000 students. The university is located in a suburban, residential setting in southern New Jersey and is less than 20 miles from Philadelphia.

All positions are contingent upon budget appropriations.
