Position: Assistant Professor, Biology (tenure-track), College of Liberal Arts and Sciences

Description:

This position is for a person with a specialty in Cell Biology. This faculty member will have expertise in some aspect eukaryotic cell biology, including cell physiology, developmental biology, cell-ECM interactions, cytogenetics, immunology, signal transduction, cell communication, or other cell biology subfields. The faculty member will participate in the department's new introductory sequence for majors, specifically an introductory cell biology course, as well as teach upper-level courses related to his or her expertise. The faculty member will be expected to maintain an active and productive research program that involves undergraduates. Active participation in departmental and University affairs is also expected.

Qualifications:

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in the field of cell biology or a related discipline and an on-going productive research program is required. A strong interest in, and commitment to, excellence in undergraduate education is required. Previous college teaching experience is desirable.

Starting Date: September 1, 2010

The Department of Biological Sciences serves over 400 Biology majors. Programs offered include a B.S. degree in biology, a minor in biology, and concentrations in Environmental Studies and Pre-Medicine. Rowan University recently announced that, in conjunction with Cooper Hospital, it will be establishing a new medical school in Camden, with the first class starting in 2013. The department's atmosphere reflects the invigorating environment at Rowan University which is a vibrant, comprehensive state institution with a present enrollment of over 11,000 students. The university is located in a suburban, residential setting in southern New Jersey and is less than 20 miles from Philadelphia.

All positions are contingent upon budget appropriations.
