Rowan's Political Science majors learn about American politics, international relations, political theories and the governmental systems that have influenced the conditions of human life around the world. A public service internship is a required part of the program. Students are placed in government agencies or legislative offices where they learn problem-solving techniques and gain practical experience.

The department regularly invites state representatives and other government officials to talk about their work and meet with students. Active student organizations such as the Pre-Law Society, Political Science Club and Pi Sigma Alpha Honor Society provide additional opportunities to explore the field and learn about career opportunities.
