Liberal Studies: Math/Science Specialization
Course Schedules and Offerings: Coordinate Majors
The B.A. in Elementary Education with a coordinate major of Liberal
Studies - Math/Science specialization is a 128-129 s.h. major. It is
important to realize that many courses have pre-requisites. Careful advising
and planning is essential to ensure that you graduate on schedule. It is
not possible to major in this specialization if you can only take classes
at night.
While lower level and general education classes are typically offered
every semester, this is not true for several other courses and all
upper level courses. Below is important information that you need to be
aware of while planning your curriculum. You are required to meet
with Dr. Laumakis
each semester. Please call for an appointment
well in advance of your scheduled pre-registration time.
During your freshman and sophomore years there is some flexibility as
to when you take your courses and how many you take each semester. This is
NOT true at the upper level. This major is highly structured and restrictive.
Below is a guide to the sequence of courses as well as when each course is
offered. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Dr.
Laumakis.
All Elemenatary Education coordinate majors have to be extremely careful
that they plan their courses in advance so they do not conflict with Education
requirements. Upper level Math/Science courses are scheduled so that they
will not conflict with the Education Studies I, II, III, & IV sequence.
A possible sequence for Education classes (in
light blue) is included for information, but all courses required
for an elementary education degree each semester MUST be selected with
advising from Ms. Small in the department of Elementary Education.
General Guidelines for Lower Level Requirements
