Liberal Studies: Math/Science Specialization

Degree Requirements

The Liberal Studies: Math/Science specializtion program leads to the B.A. degree. Students must complete a program of 120 semester hours (s.h.) as outlined below. For more information on secheduling see Schedule and Course Offerings.


IMPORTANT Note: Elementary Education Majors who have as their coordinate major Liberal Studies - Math/Sci Specialization have the same major requirements as non-coordinate majors, but the courses are arranged somewhat differently between general education and major courses. Elementary Education majors should work closely with the Advisor in the Elementary Education department to ensure their selection of general education courses, Education courses, and free electives satisfy NJ Certification Standards.

+ General Education Electives include those courses designated as "General Education" courses on the General Education Guide sheet, all courses within Liberal Arts and Sciences, and Health & Wellness.

NOTE: All students must have at least one course designated as Multicultural/Global (M/G), Literature (LIT), Writing Intensive (WI), and a Laboratory Science. The Math/Science Specialization specifies the writing intensive section of Philosophy of Science which must be taken at Rowan University. Students should consult the University's list of General Education courses to select courses which satisfy the M/G and LIT requirements.

In addition to the General Education (pre-major) requirements, beginning, intermediate, and upper-level courses have been selected or developed so that knowledge and skills are introduced and acquired in a logical order.
