FYI - Ms. Eve Weissman, New Jersey Citizen Action will be speaking to Professor Carol Palermo’s American Government class on Monday, February 5, 2007 at 1:45 p.m. in room 225

FYI - Faculty and their students are welcome to attend Professor Mujahid Nyahuma’s special lecture in his American Government class on Tuesday, December 5, 2006 at 9:30 a.m., in room 305, Robinson HallAuthor, Dr. Steven Freeman, will be the guest lecturer and he will be discussing his book, “Was the 2004 Presidential Elections Stolen?” which covers information on exit polls, election fraud, and the official count.

FYI – On Tuesday, November 7, 2006, at 7:30 p.m., Dr. R. Lawrence Butler, author of the book: Claiming the Mantle:  How Presidential Nominations are Won and Lost Before The Votes are Cast, published by Westview; and one of Political Science’s faculty members will be making a guest appearance on COMCAST NEWS 8.  Please tune in, you don’t want to miss this one.

Dr. Belinda Bragg, our newest faculty member in the Political Science Department.

Dr. Bragg received her B.A. from the University of Melbourne, Australia and her Ph.D. from Texas A&M University. At Texas A&M she taught political science and worked as a research scientist for the Institute for Science, Technology and Public Policy. Her dissertation explores the influences of costs and issue salience on the duration of interstate crises prior to the initiation of conflict management.  Dr. Bragg’s research focuses on decision making processes, utilizing both experimental and more traditional quantitative methods. While her primary area of research is international conflict and negotiation behavior, she is also involved in collaborative decision making research projects examining domestic US public opinion and policy change.

Pi Sigma Alpha, the Political Science Honor Society, is now taking applications

Requirements are a 3.0 GPA in at least ten hours of political science courses, a 3.0 GPA overall average, and a $30 one-time membership fee (fee must be paid by TBA).  REMEMBER!  You do not have to be a PS major.

If you are inducted into Pi Sigma Alpha, a notation will be made on your transcript, you will receive a frameable certificate, you will be entitled to wear the dark blue PS honor cord at graduation, and you and a guest will receive a free ticket to the Annual Political Science Dinner held in TBA, located in Robinson Hall, 3rd floor on TBA, at TBA.
