Who we are.

The Women’s Studies program at Rowan University is an interdisciplinary, global educational movement that is transforming what we know and think about women and gender in the complex contexts of culture and society.  Founded in 1974, the Women’s Studies program at Rowan is one of the oldest in the nation, consisting of 30 undergraduate course offerings, within an18 credit-hour interdisciplinary concentration. The program examines the status, perspectives, and contributions of women and interaction between gender and other social identities.  Both classroom-based and public educational activities are designed to broaden understanding of gender anddiversity issues in education, in institutional culture, and in the society at large.
