Dr. Claire Moses is Professor of Womens Studies and Affiliate Professor of History at the University of Maryland. In 2003, she was recognized as the university's Outstanding Woman of the Year. She is also the Editorial Director of Feminist Studies, a leading journal of womens studies scholarship and theory. Dr. Mosess research and teaching interests focus on feminist theory and histories of feminist organizing and on the history of European women.

Dr. Eugene DeLoatch holds two bachelors degrees-one in mathematics from Tougaloo College and another in electrical engineering from Lafayette College. He also has a masters degree in electrical engineering and a doctorate in bioengineering from the Polytechnic University of Brooklyn. Dr. DeLoatch discusses issues of African American presence and racial diversity within the engineering industry in his presentation, titled US Engineering Workforce Whats Missing?

He serves as the dean of International Studies and Programs, dean of the medical center and director of the Center for Afghanistan Studies.

Akinwande Oluwole "Wole" Soyinka is a Nigerian writer, poet and playwright. He won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1986, the first African to be so honored. In 1994, he was designated United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Goodwill Ambassador for the promotion of African culture, human rights, freedom of expression, media and communication. His presentation is titled: Politics of Heritage and the Quest for Healing

A Phi Beta Kappa and a Ford Foundation Foreign Area Training Fellow, he is a recipient of numerous fellowships, including those from the John Simon Guggenheim Foundation, the American Council of Learned Societies, the Social Science Research Council, and the American Philosophical Society.
