Guest speaker Dr. Theresa Powell addresses “Strength within: Navigate obstacles and discover success in times of transition”

Join the Women’s Professional Network of Rowan University for its 2007 Fall Breakfast featuring Dr. Theresa Powell, vice president for Student Affairs at Temple University, on Thursday, November 8 in Room 144 of the Student Center. A continental breakfast will begin at 9 a.m., followed by Dr. Powell speaking at 9:30 a.m. on “Strength within: Navigate obstacles and discover success in times of transition.” The event is free and open to the entire Rowan community. Dr. Powell grew up in the segregated South to parents who ended their education in elementary school. The ninth of 10 children, Dr. Powell earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania, where she decided to enter the field of higher education student affairs and her master’s and doctorate from Texas Christian University and The Ohio State University, respectively.

Past president of the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators, she has been a member of the Accreditation Review Council for The Higher Learning Commission (Commission of the North Central Association for Colleges and Schools) for the past 11 years.

Widely published, Dr. Powell is an active speaker and consultant on a broad range of student affairs issues, including student culture and diversity, career concerns of women administrators, student leadership and campus programming.
