SERVICE PROJECTS

Literacy Alive 2010

September 2009

Raegan, a  girl from Oklahoma will be celebrating her 10th birthday on October 11.  Her father lost his job a few months ago so both of her parents couldn't afford to give her the birthday she deserved. We made birthday cards for Raegan as well as collected money at the meeting. We were able to buy Raegan a Rascal Flatts CD, a softball, a Hannah Montana notebook and pencils, and a Hannah Montana doll with horse. Another member also donated three Hannah Montana books. All of the items were packaged and shipped to Raegan so she could have it before her birthday.

October 2009

There is a seven year old girl named Emma O’Brien who attends Bullock school in Glassboro and is currently fighting cancer. The school has held a fundraiser to raise money to help her family with the numerous expenses that they are facing due to Emma’s disease. We decided that one way we can help is to donate supplies to her school as a way to give back to the students for their generosity towards Emma’s family.   School supplies were collected on Wednesday, October 14 at our regular monthly meeting. The advisors as well as a few E-Board members went to Bullock school on Friday, October 16 to drop off the supplies. The students in Emma's class were so excited and thankful for all of the donations. Great job everyone! Check back soon for a picture :)

AIDS Coalition of Southern New Jersey (ACSNJ) is a non-profit organization that provides social services to those affected
by HIV or AIDS in Southern New Jersey. The Eta Psi chapter of Kappa Delta Pi adopted a family through the Office of Service Learning and Volunteerism. We collected canned goods at our November meeting and had a great turnout. Awesome job Kadelpians!!!
