United Latino Association

Welcome

U.L.A HISTORY

The purpose of the United Latino Association is to unite Latino and other interested students of Rowan University. The goal is to stimulate and organize any form of intellectual and social activity among the students interested in the Latino culture and welfare of the Latino students at Rowan University.

The United Latino Association, originally called Puerto Rican Students in Action (PRSA), was founded in the early 1970's. Over the years, the population of students from other Spanish speaking countries began appearing on the Glassboro State College Campus ( Rowan College of New Jersey). Puerto Rican Students in Action then changed its name to Hispanic Students United (HSU). During this time, Hispanic Students United gained a respectable reputation throughout campus by their participation in community service projects, fundraisers, and other informational events and programs. Their involvement on campus and within the community was recognized by Rowan University Faculty and Administration. The Hispanic Students United later changed their name to the United Latino Association or "ULA", as known today by Rowan University Students.

Today, the United Latino Association remains active on and off campus with events, programs, and service projects and continue to follow the purposes and goals set forth by its founders.

The United Latino Assocation is an official chartered organization and is represented by members of various nationalities and backgrounds. Their are currently over 50 active members joined by an Executive Board. The organization has an official shield that is currently displayed in the Rowan University Student Center.
