Code Among Experts event for the AT&T Civic App Challenge-NJ

Sunday October 18, 3-5pm, in 121 Robinson Hall on the Glassboro campus

Participants in the AT&T Civic App Challenge-NJ are invited to attend a BYO-Device coding session.

Tech experts from industry and academia will be available during the session to assist attendees with suggestions on mobile App design and implementation.

The AT&T Civic App Challenge-NJ is a contest offering $19k in prizes to New Jersey students and residents. Full details are available at AT&T Civic App Challenge-NJ .

Registration is not required but RSVPs to are appreciated.

And save the date for the Challenge's state final event on Friday December 4 at 11am, in Rowan University's Eynon Ballroom.

The department also seeks to meet the educational needs of the community at large through general education courses, a minor in Computer Science, and other programs. The Computer Science faculty is committed to contributing to the expansion of knowledge in the Computer Science discipline through teaching, research, and service.

The Department

The department consists of thirteen highly qualified faculty members and two professional staff members for managing the computer laboratories. We offer a four-year Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science as well as a minor in Computer Science. Computer science students master current technology and develop the versatility needed to adapt in this fast evolving field. Recent graduates have found exciting careers in industry, government and education. The program also prepares students for graduate study in Computer Science and related fields. Specializations are available in the areas of software engineering, networking and operating systems, information technology, programming languages and compilers, and artificial intelligence. Many students complete an internship in the industry.

The Computer Science department hosts the Rowan chapter of Upsilon Pi Epsilon, 2008 UPE Induction Ceremony, the international honor society for the computing and information disciplines, as well as the Rowan student chapter of the ACM , the international computing society. Further, many computer science students take an active role in faculty research projects. Results of the research are often presented at Rowan's Science Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) student research symposium. The Computer Science department organizes the annual Rowan University Programming Contest for area high school students.
