Community Service The faculty, staff, and students are actively involved in service to the local and professional community. This includes K-12 enrichment activities, engineering workshops, and teacher training. Engineers Without Borders (EWB) Outreach activities have extended beyond the region, and have encompassed the national and global community. Engineers Without Borders has helped communities around the world obtain clean water, treat waste water, produce energy, improve shelter, and develop sustainable industries. Hurricane Katrina Recovery Rowan University's Hurricane Katrina Recovery Project was started in 2005 immediately following the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. The Hurricane Katrina Recovery Project is an all volunteer organization whose goal is not only to provide relief and recovery efforts to the Gulf Coast area, but also to provide a valuable service learning experience to students and faculty at Rowan University.
