Faculty Bio
Lawrence J. Stewart earned his B.S. degree at Ball State University, M.M degree at Northwestern University, and the DMA in Bassoon Performance at the University of Michigan. He received a diploma from the Berkshire Music Festival at Tanglewood, Massachusetts and performed in the Marcel Moyse Chamber Music Seminar in Marlboro, Vermont. His bassoon training includes study with Homer Pence, Leonard Sharrow, Sherman Walt, Wilbur Simpson, Louis Skinner, Sol Schoenbach, Lewis Hugh Cooper, John Schamliam, and Bernard Garfield. As a professional bassoonist, Dr. Stewart has been a member of the Chicago Little Symphony, the National Symphony (Washington, D.C.), the Interlochen (Michigan) Arts Academy Woodwind Quintet, the Western Michigan University Woodwind Quintet, and the Kapelle Woodwind Trio. The Kapelle trio appeared throughout the East coast and on Philadelphia radio and television, receiving annual grants from the New Jersey Endowment for the Arts. 856-256-4500x3713 |
