CATALOG DESCRIPTION:

1701.121 - Intermediate Algebra 3 s.h.

This course emphasizes the basic algebraic skills and techniques used in business and social sciences. It will prepare students to take science and mathematics courses in the general education bank. Topics included are a review of algebra, solutions of linear, rational, and quadratic functions, exponential notions, relations and functions, graphs, determinants. Use of calculators is required.
Students are expected to have completed the equilvalent of developing Algebra Skills and Basic Algebra.

OBJECTIVES:

This course attempts to serve two types of students: students entering the College with deficiencies in high school algebra, and students who have an extended gap between their high school education and their basic algebraic skills. This course attempts to bring these and any other students who feel the need to a minimum standard of algebraic proficiency that will enable them to participate successfully in those courses that require some algebraic knowledge.
