Glassboro Campus Master Plan:

The Society for College and University Planning (SCUP) defines campus planning as a process “that outlines the long-term direction of the physical campus. It includes elements such as open space, buildings, non-motorized circulation (walking paths, bike lanes, etc.), motorized circulation (roads, public transportation access, etc.), and utilities. It ensures the highest and best use of land to meet an institution’s academic, research, and outreach missions. While campus planning occurs every day as an ongoing process, longer-range recommendations are often documented in a report called a campus master plan.”

The University has launched a master planning process for the Glassboro campus to guide its physical development over the next ten years. One of the critical driving forces will be the future of education and technology. The consultant team, led by OLIN, a nationally recognized planning and design firm based in Philadelphia, has an experienced team to address future trends in education and technology, as well as a myriad of other disciplines including planning, space allocation, architecture, landscape architecture, sustainability, mechanical systems, lighting, ecology and natural resources, transportation, and cost estimating.

The process kicked off in January with working committee meetings and an open house. The consultants are gathering input from many sources, including our campus community, to inform the recommendations ultimately put forth in the master plan. Preliminary plans will be ready in the spring. A draft report is scheduled to be complete in July, with the final version later in the fall.

Throughout the next several months, we will publicize events through the Rowan Announcer and various social media platforms. Further information on the project and future status reports can be found on this webpage. Check back often. Your participation and voice are highly encouraged.

Thank you in advance as we embark on this exciting and important chapter at Rowan!
