Mathematics and Science Partnership Program
The Articulation of Content, Expectations, and Standards in Math and Science (ACES) project is a mathematics and science partnership among Rowan University and four regional networks of schools that span grades K to 12. The participating districts, grouped by consortia, are Berlin Township, Clementon, and Pine Hill; Folsom, Hammonton, and Waterford; Galloway, Greater Egg Harbor Regional High School, Hamilton, Mullica Township, Port Republic, and Washington Township; and Willingboro.
The purpose of the three-year project is to provide professional development to teams of mathematics and science teachers in grades K to 12. Each year, 80 new teachers will participate in the program. The primary goal of the program is to increase student achievement in mathematics and science by developing teachers’ understandings of the content in the revised New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards for mathematics and science. As part of the 150 hours of professional development that the project provides, teachers will be updating mathematics and science curricula to be aligned with the revised Standards.
Faculty from the Departments of Mathematics, Biological Science, Physics and Astronomy, and Chemistry and Biochemistry at Rowan University will provide the professional development.
