Dr. Thomas Gallia has a wide range of responsibilities, including serving as liaison between key constituencies on and off campus and facilitating a variety of projects and initiatives critical to the institution. In his almost 50 years at Rowan, he has been a biological science and secondary education professor and has served three terms as a department chair and eight years as executive associate dean in the College of Education. In addition to his position as chief of staff/vice president for University Relations, Gallia holds the rank of full professor in the Teacher Education and Educational Leadership departments. He earned a bachelor's degree in biological and physical sciences and master's degrees in science teaching and school supervision and curriculum development from Rowan. He earned a doctorate in science education from Rutgers University. >>Back to Top
Michael Harris, Vice President of Facilities and Operations As vice president of Facilities and Operations, Michael Harris is responsible for campus planning and sustainability, design and construction, building and grounds maintenance, environmental health and safety and more. He came to Rowan in 2009 after serving as associate vice president (Office of the Executive Vice President) for the University of Pennsylvania, where he co-managed the development master planning process. Harris also served as the chief financial officer for the School District of Philadelphia and as city budget director and deputy director for community development (Office of Budget and Management) for Chicago. He earned a bachelor's degree in political science and a master's degree in political science/public administration from Illinois State University. >>Back to Top
Richard Jones, Vice President for Student Life In his position as vice president for Student Life, Richard Jones serves as the chief student life officer for the University, overseeing a broad array of student-centric departments and acting as the chief student advocate on campus, responsible for student success, diversity, health, wellness, inclusiveness and volunteerism. Jones has more than 20 years of experience in student affairs at such places as Huntingdon College, the University of New Orleans, and Vanderbilt and Mississippi State universities. He earned a bachelor's degree in English literature from the University of North Florida and a master's degree in counselor education/student development from Mississippi State University. He is pursuing a doctorate in educational leadership from Alabama State University. >>Back to Top
Paul Katz, M.D., Founding Dean, Cooper Medical School of Rowan University As founding dean of Cooper Medical School of Rowan University, Paul Katz, M.D., is in a position to impact education and health care in South Jersey, the region and the nation. Appointed in 2010, Katz is shepherding the development of the medical school, a partnership of Rowan University and the Cooper Health System. Prior to coming to CMSRU, Katz was founding vice dean of The Commonwealth Medical College in Scranton, Pa. He has been a practicing physician and healthcare executive on the East Coast for more than three decades, including holding positions at the University of Miami School of Medicine, Georgetown Medical Center, Mount Sinai Medical Center & Miami Heart Institute, and the University of Florida. Robert Zazzali, Vice President for Employee and Labor Relations Robert Zazzali, vice president for Employee and Labor Relations, has worn numerous hats since he began at Rowan in 1973, including those of director of Alumni Relations, Student Life and Development, the Student Center and Student Activities. He served as executive assistant to the provost for employee relations and associate provost for faculty affairs, focused on faculty, employment and labor relations issues, for nearly 25 years. In his present position, Zazzali is the administration's liaison with the AFT union and the University's Ethics Liaison Officer. He oversees Human Resources, Equity and Diversity, and Employee and Labor Relations. Zazzali earned a bachelor's degree in communications and a master's degree in public relations from Rowan and a master's degree in labor studies and industrial relations from Rutgers University. >>Back to TopR.J. Tallarida Jr., Assistant Vice President for Development/Acting Executive Director of the Rowan University Foundation
In his position as assistant vice president for Development and acting executive director of the Rowan University Foundation, R.J. Tallarida is responsible for the overall management and operations of the University Advancement Division and the Rowan University Foundation, including areas such as fundraising, alumni relations, advancement communications, advancement services and foundation events. He is also the liaison to the Foundation Board of Directors. Tallarida served as development director at Rowan since 2008 where he was responsible for raising annual and major gifts from alumni and friends of Rowan University. Prior to his role at Rowan, Tallarida served as deputy chief of staff for United States Congressman Rob Andrews, where he managed the congressman's legislative office in Washington DC., and was responsible for managing the congressman's highest priority legislative projects, and all daily affairs in Washington DC. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Temple University and is pursuing a master’s degree in higher education administration at Rowan. >>Back to Top |
