The Department of Public Safety received approval to establish its Bicycle Patrol detail in April, 1995. Since that date the bicycle patrol unit has proven that it possesses the ability to entertain the needs of an ever-changing community, picking up where foot patrol and patrol vehicles leave off. This effective detail has given the Patrol Services Section a proactive response for dealing with crime on the campus of Rowan University.
A supplement to Patrol Services Section is the Lot Patrol detail. This detail patrols the university's parking lots and adjacent buildings during the evening class time schedule.
Patrol Services Section is utilized by many of the Rowan University students as a work-study location. The students' assignments vary from functioning as escort persons, to issuing tickets, and parking control.
