The Office of Service Learning, Volunteerism & Community Engagement offers numerous opportunities for students who want to give back to the community as volunteers.

There are many reasons why individuals participate in service learning and volunteerism experiences. The following are some reasons why individuals within the collegiate environment consider service learning and volunteerism important:

• Develop civic-mindedness and social responsibility
• Academic learning becomes real and relevant
• Allows individual to see whether career choices are good ones
• Encourages individuals to examine moral and ethical issues
