If you know of other organizations or projects the University should be affiliated with, please email RowanRelief@rowan.edu. If you would like to organize your own collection drive for Hurricane Sandy relief, please email volunteer@rowan.edu. Note: It is extremely important to contact the Office of Service-Learning, Volunteerism and Community Engagement (SLVCE) before starting a collection drive. SLVCE staff members are working with state officials to determine what items are needed most and where. Drop-off location: Office of Service Learning, Volunteerism & Community Engagement, Chamberlain Student Center, Suite 210 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Blankets for Brigantine & Beyond Blankets for Brigantine & Beyond is a volunteer effort collecting NEW blankets, bedding, socks and shoes for residents of the shore communities devastated by Hurricane Sandy. They need individuals, groups and organizations to assist with donations, collection and delivery of items to areas in need. Drop-off location: Space Mart Self Storage in Blackwood, N.J., or Gloucester County Chamber of Commerce at 28 N. Main St. in Glassboro, N.J. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Food Bank of South Jersey Collection The Office of Service-Learning, Volunteerism & Community Engagement currently is collecting non-perishable food items for the Food Bank of South Jersey to deliver to Hurricane Sandy victims near the shore. Drop-off location: Office of Service Learning, Volunteerism & Community Engagement, Chamberlain Student Center, Suite 210 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Owned and operated by a Rowan alumnus, Ace Screen Printing is partnering with University students to raise funds for Hurricane Sandy Red Cross relief efforts. Tees and sweatshirts in various designs and colors are available at www. jerseystrongtees.com. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Ortley Beach Clean-up – Sunday, Feb. 17 JerseyCares.org is looking for volunteers to help AmeriCorps members clean up homes. Volunteers should dress warmly and bring their own water, snacks and lunch. Rowan's Office of Service Learning, Volunteerism and Community Engagement will sponsor a van from the Chamberlain Student Center to the meeting location and provide volunteers with gloves, masks and a Rowan Relief T-shirt (if you don't already have one). The van will leave the Student Center circle at 7:30 a.m. and return around 3 p.m. If interested, please create an account with JerseyCares.org and sign up with the Rowan Relief team through the event website. Please also contact volunteer@rowan.edu ASAP to reserve a seat in the van or for any questions. Seats in the van are available on a first-come, first-served basis. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ In partnership with ERGO clothing, Derek Koch, a Rowan sophomore graphic design major, created a "Restore the Shore" design that received 20,000 Facebook "likes" in a single day and has already sold more than $150,000 in shirts. To purchase a shirt, visit the ERGO clothing website and for additional information, like the Restore the Shore Projects Facebook page. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ SGA "Restore the Shore" T-Shirt Sale Rowan's Student Government Association is currently selling "Restore the Shore" T-shirts on a $10 minimum sliding scale. Shirts are available on the bottom floor of the Student Center. All proceeds go to the American Red Cross. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ A Rowan student and her family lost all of their winter clothes, coats, gloves and hats in Hurricane Sandy.
