Dr. Thomas Gallia, Vice President Emeritus, Senior Advisor to the President
Dr. Thomas Gallia has a wide range of responsibilities, including serving as liaison between key constituencies on and off campus and facilitating a variety of projects and initiatives critical to the institution. In his almost 50 years at Rowan, he has been a biological science and secondary education professor and has served three terms as a department chair and eight years as executive associate dean in the College of Education. Most recently, Dr. Gallia held the position of chief of staff/vice president for University Relations. Gallia holds the rank of full professor in the Teacher Education and Educational Leadership departments. He earned a bachelor's degree in biological and physical sciences and master's degrees in science teaching and school supervision and curriculum development from Rowan. He earned a doctorate in science education from Rutgers University.
In his position as vice president for Student Life, Richard Jones serves as the chief student life officer for the University, overseeing a broad array of student-centric departments and acting as the chief student advocate on campus, responsible for student success, multi-cultural support, health, wellness, inclusiveness and volunteerism. Jones has more than 20 years of experience in student affairs at such places as Huntingdon College, the University of New Orleans, and Vanderbilt and Mississippi State universities. He earned a bachelor's degree in English literature from the University of North Florida and a master's degree in counselor education/student development from Mississippi State University. He is pursuing a doctorate in educational leadership from Alabama State University.
In her role, Dr. Lalovic-Hand will provide leadership for all Information Resources governance processes, information technology infrastructure, business applications and information management services. Her expertise in management processes and systems is essential to the development of resources, systems and operations—across all campuses and divisions—that will sustain and support the University’s expansion.
Donald Moore, Vice President for Facilities and Plant Operations
In his position of Vice President for Facilities and Operations, Donald Moore serves as the individual chiefly responsible for the master planning, design, construction, operational ownership, maintenance and upkeep of the facilities and property stock of Rowan University. He leads a team of individuals that span the spectrum of project management, design, financial management, energy and sustainability, custodial, and plant operations. Mr. Moore has over 27 years of experience in the facilities development arena, spanning development types including housing, commercial high-rise, heavy and highway, energy services, and most significantly educational and academic facilities. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Bradley University's School of Engineering and Technology having a concentration in Construction Management and Civil Engineering, and subsequently earned his Master’s in Business Administration from the Richard Stockton College of New Jersey having a concentration in business management.
Dr. James Newell, most recently associate provost for Academic Affairs, is Rowan's provost. He is responsible for all academic programs, including the two campuses and seven colleges, and Instructional Technology. Newell came to Rowan in 1998 as an associate professor of chemical engineering and helped teach the first class of engineering graduates. He moved into administration in 2007 following a year of service as the University Senate president. Prior to joining the Rowan faculty, he was an assistant professor at the University of North Dakota. He earned a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering and biomedical engineering from Carnegie Mellon University, a master's degree in chemical engineering from Penn State and a Ph. Joseph Scully, vice president and chief financial officer, is responsible for the effective operation and management of the Finance Division and all financial affairs of the University, including oversight of areas such as financial reporting, accounting and budgeting and analysis. Scully, who came to Rowan in 2000, served as Rowan's assistant vice president for finance, controller and chief financial officer prior to being appointed vice president. Before joining the Rowan staff, he was controller at Philadelphia-based Jeanes Hospital, a part of the Temple Health System, and worked in the Finance Department at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. A certified public accountant, he earned a bachelor's degree in accounting and a master's degree in business administration in finance from LaSalle University.>>Back to Top
R.J. Tallarida Jr., Associate Vice President for University Advancement/Executive Director of the Rowan University Foundation
In his position as associate vice president for university advancement and executive director of the Rowan University Foundation, R.J. Tallarida is responsible for the overall management and operations of the University Advancement Division and the Rowan University Foundation, including areas such as fundraising, alumni relations, advancement communications, advancement services and foundation events. He is also the liaison to the Foundation Board of Directors. Tallarida served as development director at Rowan since 2008 where he was responsible for raising annual and major gifts from alumni and friends of Rowan University. Prior to his role at Rowan, Tallarida served as deputy chief of staff for United States Congressman Rob Andrews, where he managed the congressman's legislative office in Washington DC., and was responsible for managing the congressman's highest priority legislative projects, and all daily affairs in Washington DC. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Temple University and is pursuing a master’s degree in higher education administration at Rowan.
Mr. Steven Weinstein, Esq., Vice President for Governmental Relations and General Counsel
As of December, 2012, Mr. Weinstein was appointed as the University’s first general counsel as well as vice president for Government Relations. In addition to developing a legal office to support the entire University, he will work internally and externally to support the evolution of Rowan into a senior research institution, the development of a new college of allied health and the integration of the School of Osteopathic Medicine. Mr. Weinstein brings extensive experience in the law, government and the political process to the University. Most recently, he was a partner with the law firm of Florio Perrucci Steinhardt & Fader, PC and prior to that with Blank Rome LLP and has represented both private and governmental clients. Mr. Weinstein had the honor of serving on the Board of Trustees of Glassboro State and Rowan where he was the Chairman of the Board following the receipt of the Rowan Family $100 million gift and helped lead the initial visioning process and development of the University’s College of Engineering. His extensive community involvement includes chairing the Camden County United Way and the Haddonfield Board of Education. Mr. Weinstein earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Rutgers College and his Juris Doctorate from Rutgers-Camden School of Law.
Robert Zazzali, Vice President for Employee and Labor Relations/President's Chief of Staff
Robert Zazzali, vice president for Employee and Labor Relations and President's Chief of Staff, has worn numerous hats since he began at Rowan in 1973, including those of director of Alumni Relations, Student Life and Development, the Student Center and Student Activities. He served as executive assistant to the provost for employee relations and associate provost for faculty affairs, focused on faculty, employment and labor relations issues, for nearly 25 years. In his present position, Zazzali oversees Human Resouces, Equity and Diversity, and Labor Relations. As the President's Chief of Staff, in addition to performing a number of duties related to the Office of the President, he assists the President in overseeing Athletics and Public Safety, and he plays a liaison role with the Borough of Glassboro. In addition, Zazzali serves as the Universities Ethics Liaison Officer with the New Jersey State Ethics Commission. Zazzali earned a bachelor's degree in communications and a master's degree in public relations from Rowan and a master's degree in labor studies and industrial relations from Rutgers University. He is a long time resident of Glassboro.
