American Studies - Connecting to the American dream!

It's the study of America! American History, American Literature, American Geography, the societies and cultures of the American people, politics, economics, its philosophies and dramas.

American Studies draws its courses from several different departments within the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences. By learning to make connections among many disciplines, you'll develop strong critical thinking and writing skills as well as a sophisticated understanding of the diverse American cultural landscape.

The American Studies major is an excellent coordinate major for students enrolled in the Elementary Education program; covering many of the Core Curriculum Content Standard areas that future teacher will be expected to teach. Married with a minor in Philosophy, American Studies is an excellent undergraduate preparation for law school.
