RU Admissions - ideas in action
RU Ready to Learn More? Art: Studio Art - Where Creativity is Your Most Valuable Asset! The Art program at Rowan is created to be flexible allowing you to prepare for a career in commercial art and design, fine arts, or other arts-related professions. Illustration/Graphic Design combines a foundation in drawing, design and traditional art skills with the mastery of new technology such as Web design, motion graphics and animation. Fine Arts enhance your study in computer art, drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, jewelry/metalry, or photography. We even offer the unique art form of puppetry. Both specialty areas are offered as a B.F.A. (bachelor of fine arts) weighted more heavily toward studio training, or as a B.A. (bachelor of arts), which includes more liberal arts coursework creating a broader, more rounded degree. You'll work in spacious studios with state-of-the-art equipment. We have separate studios for each art area, two large well-equipped art computer labs, six large kilns in the ceramics studio, a sculpture studio with welding stations and the largest foundry in New Jersey. Two galleries are set aside for professional exhibits, with a special gallery reserved for student shows. With our location so close to Philadelphia, New York and Washington, you'll have plenty of opportunity to attend art events, network in the field and entertain visiting professional artists and exhibitions.
