RU Admissions - ideas in action
RU Ready to Learn More? Health Promotion and Fitness Management Health promotion is "wellness." It's an approach to health that focuses on improving a person's quality of life through positive lifestyle habits - body, mind and spirit. Organizations realize a healthy employee is a happy and productive worker. Many are incorporating wellness and fitness into their mission, and hiring qualified staff to manage these programs. Health care professionals working with adolescents thru geriatrics are encouraging the benefits of health prevention before problems arise. If you like keeping people fit and healthy through community or health care agencies, hospitals, commercial wellness facilities or corporate health and fitness outlets, then HPFM is the major for you. Voted the best undergraduate program nationally by the Association for Worksite Health Promotion, Rowan's HPFM program is rated first place and cited as exemplary, serving as a model for other institutions. You'll not only gain knowledge in all skill areas, but also participate in extensive field experiences. The Rowan AWHP student chapter is one of the largest and most active in the country. Projects include major events such as hosting the mid-Atlantic regional health promotion conference, presenting at professional conferences, coordinating campus-wide cholesterol and blood pressure screenings and coordinating the annual Health/Wellness Fair at Rowan each year.
