History - Real and fascinating, narrating our world!

At Rowan you'll learn history. And not just from textbooks, but also from primary sources - documents, diaries and evidence created by real people who lived in the past. In one course, Rowan students went a step further, meeting their sources in person. Through a project called "We All Got History," students interviewed Delaware Valley residents about their work experiences, learning how life in our region has changed and discovering the local impact of global events-from World War II to international economic cycles.

Our faculty specialties range from American and European history to Latin American, East Asian, African, Russian and Islamic civilizations, giving you the opportunity to develop a broad understanding in history, and to specialize in a particular area of interest. Our historically rich location offers many outstanding internship opportunities for History majors. Recently, students have worked with the New Jersey Historic Preservation Office, Independence National Historical Park, The African American Museum in Philadelphia, and Valley Forge National Historical Park, to name a few.
