RU Admissions - ideas in action
RU Ready to Learn More? Physics - Matter, energy, force and motion in a high-tech world A major in Physics will balance general physics courses developing your analytical skills, with more advanced courses in highly technical areas. The Physics department also offers a minor in Astronomy. Personal attention is a hallmark of Rowan's program: your classes are kept small and professors, not teaching assistants, teach all lectures and labs. You'll have access to state-of-the-art equipment included in the Atomic and Molecular Physics Laboratory and the Solid State Physics Labs. And, you'll work in a brand-new $47 million facility dedicated solely to science study and research, which includes 27 teaching laboratories, a planetarium, and rooftop observatory with high-powered telescope and eight telescopic portals. Faculty will encourage you at all levels of your program to collaborate in ongoing research projects, in order to prepare for your own research-related activities in the future. As a capstone experience, you'll take part in an independent research project, allowing you to integrate concepts learned in classes into a single activity. Physics graduates go on to careers in teaching, technical support for research & development, sales reps for "high-tech" companies, technical or scientific writing, and a variety of computer application opportunities.
