If you're interested in a people-oriented career, you may want to consider a profession in foreign languages. The demand for foreign language teachers as well as for people in international careers with knowledge of foreign languages and cultures has increased substantially over the last few years.

Rowan University offers the Spanish major, and a minor in Spanish, French and German. We also offer coursework in Chinese, Russian and Italian. You may choose Spanish as a coordinate major if you're enrolled in the Elementary Education program in order to teach language in addition to other subjects at the elementary grade level. If you wish to teach only Spanish on all grade levels (K-12), you'll major in Spanish and opt to complete a subject matter teaching certification program. Foreign language students also choose to work in international business, trade and finance, human and social services, law enforcement or travel and tourism.

Graduates find ample employment opportunities. Financial institutions, social and legal agencies, hospitals, hotels, casinos and airlines all look for personnel with foreign language training. You can also gain employment as a translator or interpreter with state and federal agencies such as the court systems, FBI, CIA, State Department, Immigration and Naturalization and Customs Agencies.
