Faculty & Professional Learning Communities Program

A faculty and professional learning community (FPLC) is a cross-disciplinary group of eight to twelve faculty and professional staff engaging in an active, collaborative, yearlong adventure focused on enhancing teaching and learning. Faculty learning communities contribute to enhancing the scholarship of teaching and learning and community building at an institution. A community of learners is distinct from other university groups in that it offers opportunities for:

  • Professional Development – developing, honing, and practicing the skills of life-long learning on topics of interest to us
  • Expanding our Scholarly Communities – breaking down the barriers of specialization and engaging with stakeholders across the institution.
  • Reflective Learning – gaining a deeper understanding of the many ways of thinking about a phenomenon, experiencing cross – disciplinary dialogue.
  • Presenting and publishing our work to the campus and broader professional community
