MID-YEAR TRANSFER STUDENTS

How to transfer your financial aid to Rowan

If you are contemplating transferring to Rowan University this spring semester and you have already applied for financial aid at your current school, the following are the steps to take to insure a seamless transfer of your financial aid eligibility

1. Make sure Rowan University is designated as your first school choice on your FAFSA.  This can be accomplished in any one of the following manners:

a.  Go to FAFSA on the web (www.fafsa.ed.gov) and replace your first choice to Rowan

(school code #002609).  Select “Add or Delete a School Code” to make changes online.

b.  Call the federal processor at 1-800-4-FED-AID (1-800-433-3243) to request the change.  If you call, you’ll need your DATA RELEASE NUMBER (DRN), which is located on your FAFSA on the Web Confirmation page and on your SAR (Student Aid Report).

Once Rowan receives your FAFSA information we can begin to discuss your financial aid eligibility.  If you are required to submit any additional information requested by the federal processor, our office will notify you.

2. Notify the State Agency, Higher Education Student Assistance Authority (HESAA), that you will be attending Rowan for the spring semester so that any eligibility can be transferred to Rowan.  Please notify HESAA of the school change using one of the following options:

a. Go to the HESAA web site a www.hesaa.org , select ‘Students & Parents” and then click  
        “School Change Code” to change school code to Rowan University (school # 2515)

b. Complete the bottom portion of the SEN (student eligibility notice) noting Rowan University as the current institution and mail the entire form to:
                                                NJ HESAA
                                                Grants & Scholarships
                                                P.O. Box 540
                                                Trenton, NJ 08625

c. Fax the SEN (student eligibility notice) noting Rowan University as the correct institution to HESAA at 609-588-2228.

March 15, 2013 is the deadline for submitting a college code change to HESAA  for the spring 2013 term.

NOTE:  This deadline also applies to the NJ STARS II Program.

3.  Notify the financial aid office at your current school that you will not be returning for the Spring 2013 term.

N.J. STARS II Program

If you are transferring from a New Jersey County College and you were eligible for N.J. STARS while attending your county college, you may be eligible for N.J. STARS II at Rowan.  You must provide an official transcript from your county college to the financial aid office in order to determine your NJ STARS II eligibility.   Please submit a copy of your county college transcript directly to the financial aid office at Rowan University.  This requirement is in addition to any request for official transcripts you may have received from our admissions office.  The official transcript must clearly indicate that you have been awarded an Associate Degree and must indicate your final GPA.
