Graduate Student Loans

The Federal Stafford Student Loan

Through the Federal Stafford Loan program matriculated graduate students enrolled at least half-time may borrow up to $20,500 per year. Students apply by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), indicating that they are willing to accept financial aid in the form of a loan. All graduate level Stafford Loans as Unsubsidized.

Unsubsidized Stafford Loans are availaable to all matriculated students enrolled on at least a half-time basis regardless of family income. However, the student will have to pay all interest charges until the loan is fully repaid. These are 6.8% fixed interest loans. There are other eligibility requirements other than 1/2 time enrollment.

NOTE: Request for student loans must be received at least 30 days prior to the last day of class of the semester for which the loan is requested.

Federal PLUS Loan for Graduate Students

Graduate and professional students that borrow the maximum from the Federal Stafford Loan but need more money to pay for educational expenses may borrow from a PLUS loan. Repayment of a PLUS loan begins 60 days after disbursement. Plus loans carry a fixed interest rate of 7.9% Click here to download an application.

IMPORTANT: Attention..The Federal Graduate Plus Loan process will change for the 2013-2014 Academic Year. For 2013-2014 you must complete the Federal Direct Graduate Plus process via studentloans.gov. Further information coming soon.
