The Office of International Student Services
Check in with the Office!
All students must verify their addresses with the Office of International Student Services at the beginning of every academic year. Failure to do so within 30 days from the start of classes may result in an unintended change of status.
USCIS Address Reporting Requirement
The Immigration and Nationality Act requires aliens (any non-citizen, including permanent residents) in the U.S. to report their addresses to the USCIS (formerly INS) within ten (10) days of the change of address. The law does not require you to report your current address, only a change of address.
Within 10 days of changing address, you must report your new address on form AR-11. F-1 students can meet this requirement in three ways:
1. Report your new address to the International Center Office of International Student Services in Robinson 117. We will enter the information into SEVIS for you. No additional action will be required.
2. The form can be filled out online at the USCIS website.
3. Go to the USCIS web site and click on the address change form (AR-11). This form is in Adobe Acrobat format (PDF) and can be filled out on-line and printed. It must then be signed and mailed to:
U.S. Department of Homeland Security
U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services
Change of Address
PO Box 7134
London, KY 40742-7134
You will not receive any confirmation that your Form AR-11 has been received.
The form asks for the alien’s "A number." An "A number" is assigned to permanent residents and individuals with employment authorization. If you are not a permanent resident or have not been issued an Employment Authorization Card, you do not have an "A number." You should instead write "admission number" in that space and write the 11-digit number on your I-94 card.
The law requires that you notify the USCIS of a change of address. You should know your responsibilities and comply with this law. An alien who knowingly violates this law may be arrested, fined and/or imprisoned, and then deported.
Please remember that it is also necessary to notify the Office of International Student Services of any address changes!
