Academic Majors- Program Criteria

New Undergraduate Degree Completion Programs

Administered by the College of Professional and Continuing Education: RU Extension

We are partnering with local community colleges to help those students who possess an associates degree or 61 college credits, attain a bachelors of arts or bachelors of science degree. Rowan University courses are taught by Rowan faculty on the community college campus allowing students to remain in the learning environment they have become accustomed to and save the time it would take to commute to RU main campus. Depending on the area of study and whether pursuing studies full-time or part-time, students can earn a baccalaureate degree in as little as 2 years. Upon completion of a program, students will receive a Rowan University degree.

Departmental policy for transfering Police Academy credits:
    1. Students must have a Police Training Commission (PTC) certificate if any credits will be transferred in.
    2. Police academy credits will be counted as the equivalent of credits from a 2-year school, thus to fall within the maximum 67 credits hours transferable from such institutions. If students attempting to transfer in academy credits already have 67 credits from a 2-year school, the credits not be accepted.
    3. The Department of Law and Justice Studies will accept a maximum of 9 credits from police academy training.
    4.  Police academy credits will not be counted toward the major. They will count only as free electives. So, for example, we will not allow a student to transfer Criminal Law or any other specific course into Rowan based on academy work.
