Rowan University Daily Crime Log

The Rowan University Department of Public Safety (DPS) maintains a Daily Crime Log of all crime incidents reported to the Department for all University campuses. The log includes all crimes that occur on campus, and in non-campus buildings or properties, on public property or areas within the patrol jurisdiction of the University Police or Security.

The Daily Crime Log include the nature of the incident, date incident is reported, date and time of occurrence if known and the general location of each reported incident type. As well as the disposition of the incident, if this information is known. The Department of Public Safety posts specific incidents in the Daily Crime and Fire Logs within two (2) business days of receiving a report of an incident and reserves the right to exclude reports or certain information about incidents from a log, in certain circumstances, as permitted by law.

Please Note: According to Federal Law, an institution may withhold any of the required fields of entry, i.e. the nature, date, time, location and/or disposition if any of the following conditions apply:

  • The disclosure is prohibited by law
  • If disclosure would jeopardize the confidentiality of the victim.
  • If disclosure would jeopardize an ongoing criminal investigation or the safety of an individual
  • Cause a suspect to flee or evade detection; or
  • Result in the destruction of evidence.

As part of the Daily Crime Log requirement, Rowan University Department of Public Safety is obligated to provide the disposition of the offense, if known. These definitions apply to codes used by Rowan University.

The Daily Crime Log and Fire Log are available for public inspection online.
