When I was looking at Colleges I was very confused and overwhelmed, like most people! I wasn’t EXACTLY sure what I wanted to do as a career let alone what I wanted to major in. I knew I loved communications and would be good at studying some form of communications.
At first I was looking into Marketing or Advertising, thinking that would be fun with my bubbly and outgoing personality. When I came to Rowan, I was luckily able to explore both of those options and in doing that a new door opened up for me! After being at Rowan for about a semester, I knew I wanted to study Radio/Television/Film and one day pursue a career in it. I learned a lot about myself being at Rowan for only one semester because I felt comfortable and was able to branch out and explore a BUNCH of different avenues… which eventually led me to what I am studying now, Radio/TV/Film (RTF).
I will never forget my audition for “On The Couch” co-host. “On The Couch” is a talk show on the Rowan Television Network, and through Rowan Announcer emails, I heard about the audition. I decided, as a wee little freshman, that I was going to go out there and try out for it! What the heck, right? I GOT IT. I was so ecstatic, nervous, overwhelmed and happy at the same time. Today I am a Junior and currently the co-host AND producer of the same talk show. I love it, and have developed a deep passion for it.
The Rowan Television (RTN) is a wonderful club here at Rowan, and is one of the many hands on clubs we have to offer. It’s special to me because it’s what got me so involved on campus, and nonetheless involved in something I love doing very much. I am on the E-Board for RTN this year, and am heavily involved in both my talk show, and out of studio shoots. We broadcast all of the events, shows, and performances that happen around campus on Channel 5. We also produce 8 in-studio shows and 3 out of studio, sketch comedy shows.
This is just one example of something that I LOVE about Rowan. And this is only one of the reasons I chose to come here! It’s easy to find a reason, yourself. You just have to explore and be open to the MANY possibilities at Rowan University!
