Liberal Studies: Math/Science
Considered a "liberal" degree because it draws from different sources of knowledge, Rowan's Math/Science major focuses on mathematics, computer science, the biological sciences, chemistry and physics as connected areas of study. By learning to make connections between disciplines, students in the Math/Science major develop strong critical thinking skills and an in-depth understanding of the scientific enterprise, the uses of technology, scientific ways of knowing, and quantitative methods. The Math/Science major is especially well suited to students interested in careers in education. It covers all of the Core Curriculum Content Standard areas for aspiring educators, especially at the kindergarten through grade 8 level. The major qualifies students to become certified to teach math and science in grades 6 to 8.
