Writing Arts
Writing Arts
Working in a variety of formats, Writing Arts majors apply creativity and critical awareness to all sorts of situations. They master expository writing and cultivate their voice as writers and communicators. They become proficient editors, evaluating and improving a variety of documents. And they develop writing technique for such fields as law, business and technology. Hands-on opportunities include writing and editing The Whit, Rowan's award-winning student newspaper, the Avant literary quarterly, and Venue, our student humor magazine. Students may also pursue radio writing at WGLS, the award-winning Rowan radio station, and public relations and advertising experience in Rowan's hugely successful chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America and Advertising Club. And, if screenwriting is their thing, students may join Cinema Workshop. Alternatively, Writing Arts majors may earn both a B.A. and M.A. in Writing in just five years! Ask your advisor for details.
