SOM Alumni Association Funds
The SOM Alumni Association of Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine has developed a diverse array of funds that alumni can choose among to support the school's mission. All undesignated gifts are placed in the Annual Fund, which helps fund Alumni Association Excellence in Medicine student scholarships.

Charles Steiner, D.O., Alumni & Friends Endowed Fellowship for Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine
The SOM Alumni Association, along with leaders in osteopathic medicine and members of the Steiner family, started a campaign to raise $1 million in Dr. Steiner’s name to support the NMM/OMM residency program at RowanSOM. The campaign will establish perpetual funding for a board eligible/board-certified D.O. who is interested in promoting the unique qualities of osteopathic physicians by expanding his/her OMM knowledge.
Provides support for scholarships to students who demonstrate academic excellence and participate in service activities at the school. It also funds special projects for students.
Alumni Endowment Fund
Gifts earmarked for this fund are invested and accrue interest. The fund will create a perpetual and growing scholarship offering for qualified SOM students, while maintaining the principal.
Jim Fox Endowed Scholarship Fund
Family and classmates of the late James Fox, a member of the class of 1999, created and are building the fund to honor Jim. Scholarship is awarded annually to qualified non-traditional medical students.
Dr. Robert L. Thompson Endowed Scholarship Fund
Alumni from the classes of 1981 – 1991 created and continue to build this scholarship to honor Dr. Robert L. Thompson. Dr. Thompson was the dean of student services when they were students at the school. This scholarship is awarded to an incoming SOM 1st year student whose undergraduate record demonstrates outstanding achievement in one of the liberal arts.
Project/Student Activity Fund
This fund helps underwrite student programs, provides funding for educational and recreational equipment for students, and helps support students who attend national/ regional medical conferences.
Student Club Travel Funds
Alumni may now direct their support toward a student club or clubs. Money raised will provide students from the designated club the opportunity to attend scientific symposiums; or for international/domestic travel to underserved regions.
Dean’s Research Fund
The fund is designed to provide valuable “seed” funding for junior faculty researchers and students at RowanSOM.
