Program Details

Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine is dedicated to refining and enhancing physicians’ knowledge to manage the changing needs of the healthcare system. This will be a “Live” On-Line 1 hour program. This CME session is provided as an Online stream visually by Power Point Presentation and in audio by hearing the speaker’s voice. All other information such as pre and post-tests, attestation forms and a survey outcome/evaluation will be included in this course. Enjoy this program from the comfort of your own home or office.

GENERAL LEARNING OBJECTIVES

UPON COMPLETION OF THIS CME, PARTICIPANTS SHOULD BE ABLE TO:

  • Stratify risks and discuss the clinical recommendations and benefits of sustained weight loss in overweight and obese patients
  • Describe the role of hormonal and neural mechanisms in the regulation of appetite, food intake, and body weight
  • Discuss current strategies for reducing weight gain and promoting weight loss
  • Discuss the efficacy and safety of new and emerging treatment options in obesity management
  • Apply updated practice guidelines in a clinical setting

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE DATES FOR THE CURRENT AOA CME CYCLE STARTED JANUARY 1, 2016 AND ENDS DECEMBER 31, 2018. AOA MEMBERS ARE REQUIRED TO OBTAIN 120 CREDIT HOURS IN A THREE YEAR CYCLE, WITH AT LEAST 30 CREDITS IN CATEGORY 1-A.

ACCREDITATION

Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) to provide osteopathic continuing medical education for physicians. RowanSOM designates this program for a maximum of 1 Category 1-A credit and will report CME and specialty credits commensurate with the extent of the physician’s participation in this activity.

METHOD OF PARTICIPATION:

For successful completion of activity and subsequent awarding of credits, individuals are required to participate in the entire activity session and complete a pre and post test, an attestation form, as well as an activity evaluation form.
