Kennedy Memorial Hospital - Washington Township Division
"Wash" is the main teaching hospital for our residency program. The RowanSOM faculty practice is based there as are many sub-specialty teaching service. The hospital averages approximately 1200 deliveries per year and has a 7 bed L&D unit, triage area, 2 fully functioning Operating Rooms, and a locked Postpartum Unit. A Level IIb NICU with in-house 24 hour neonatology coverage is also on site. Of note, there is 24 hour in-house OB Attending coverage as well as an in-house 24 hour Anesthesia Attending. There is also a very active gynecologic surgery service where the residents participate in cases in both the main OR and in the Kennedy Surgical Center just across the street from the hospital. Rotations at Washington Township include Obstetrics, Gynecologic Surgery, Breast Surgery, Reproductive Endocrinology, and Urogynecology as well as a number of elective opportunities on the general medical and surgical services.
Cooper Hospital/University Medical Center - Camden
Cooper Hospital is a 600 bed facility located in Camden, a short commute from Kennedy Memorial Hospital - Washington Township Division. A two month gynecologic oncology rotation is scheduled during the third year potentially followed by another one month rotation in the fourth year to supplement the resident experience in cancer management.
Cooper's Gynecologic Oncology department is made up of 5 attending physicians with a strong commitment to teaching. The RowanSOM/Cooper University Hospital Gynecologic Oncology Fellowship Program is also based here. There are 3 Fellows at any given time in the program.
Resident Continuity Clinics
There are two clinic sites affiliated with the Kennedy Health System. The Family Health Center at Somerdale Square is a multispecialty facility that offers all the resources and amenities of a family health center. The Somerdale Square facility provides approximately 1900 GYN visits and 2400 OB visits per year. The Family Health Center at Washington Township is a new facility which provides approximately 850 GYN visits and 1900 OB visits per year.
Residents are assigned to one half day a week of Continuity Clinic at which they recruit a patient following and carry their care through the four years of training.
