Letter from the Program Director Obstetrics/Gynecology Residency Program
Welcome to the Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine , Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency online site. I invite you to review our fully accredited four-year academic program that offers the rewards of a community-based atmosphere in a developmental environment.
We offer high quality postgraduate resident training in general obstetrics and gynecology, reproductive endocrinology, maternal-fetal medicine, diagnostic ultrasound, and gynecologic oncology. Successful completion of the program leads to eligibility for certification by the American Osteopathic Association.
The residency is approved for twenty residents. Available positions vary by year. We also accept one Gynecologic Oncology fellow annually. The GYN-Oncology fellowship is based at Cooper University Hospital .
We prepare our graduates for clinical practice in the private and academic sectors, with many of our residents pursuing fellowships training.
An important component of our residency that has a strong academic focus is our conferences, seminars, lectures, and workshops, which are offered during regular protected educational time. Guest speakers and faculty provide weekly grand rounds, a didactic forum, fetal monitoring rounds, high-risk conferences and monthly journal club, which relate theory and practice.
We are proud of our program; we welcome your interest and look forward to hearing from you. Rev. 6/30/11
From Our Residents
"What's great about our residency is it's dedication to building a firm foundation in ob/gyn. From day one, residents are exposed to obstetrics, high risk deliveries, gyn surgeries and even subspecialty cases ." This philosophy allows first year residents to begin to develop surgical skills as well as keep fourth year residents fresh in obstetrics and gynecology surgeons - Deborah White, DO, PGY4
"The residents and staff are like a family. We have a great work environment where everyone lends a hand." — Casey Danielsen, DO, PGY5
"RowanSOM was a great place to train not only because of the experience and education provided but because of the working environment. The residents and attendings were always a pleasure to work with. This program prides itself on working together as a team in a supportive fashion to reach a common goal of high quality standards, excellent patient care and strive toward academic excellence." - Jennifer Gaide, DO (Graduated 6/30/12)
