Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine is located in Stratford, NJ and is a modern facility with superb resources to complement the clinical residency program. The medical library and computer lab are of high quality. Nationally known scientists are housed at the same location and provide an opportunity for the resident inclined to pursue basic research. RowanSOM also sponsors residency training in internal medicine, general surgery, orthopedics and family practice which creates an atmosphere dedicated to teaching and learning in all disciplines. A well-equipped fitness facility is available at a reduced membership rate to all residents. As a resident in the obstetrics and gynecology program you get early and extensive surgical exposure. Our program is in a location where you are close to the excitement of Philadelphia and the beauty of the Jersey shore.
Residency training is conducted at Kennedy Health System located in Washington Township and Stratford, New Jersey. Both obstetrics and gynecologic surgery are practiced here. Our residents are provided excellent surgical training opportunities and hands on surgery which is what makes our program different. Our faculty is known for their willingness to teach and their hands on approach. We offer excellent Salary and Benefits. We closely follow the CIR guidelines with our Union agreement as well as the 80-hour work week rules. Thus, our resident call varies between 1 in 4 nights and the occasional use of the night float system.
Ambulatory resident clinics are conducted in off-site locations at Stratford, and Washington Township.
Sub-specialty resident training is conducted at the two main facilities. This includes Maternal-Fetal Medicine, Reproductive Endocrinology, Urogynecology, Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery, and Gynecologic Oncology. An additional focused one or two month, rotation in Gynecologic Oncology is conducted at Cooper Hospital in Camden.
Our program is designated to prepare the resident for a career as a generalist as well as those who desire to pursue sub-specialty training.
The residency is approved for twenty residents. Generally, two to three positions are available for each year.
From Our Residents
"What's great about our residency is it's dedication to building a firm foundation in ob/gyn. From day one, residents are exposed to obstetrics, high risk deliveries, gyn surgeries and even subspecialty cases ." This philosophy allows first year residents to begin to develop surgical skills as well as keep fourth year residents fresh in obstetrics and gynecology surgeons - Deborah White, DO, PGY4
"The residents and staff are like a family. We have a great work environment where everyone lends a hand." — Casey Danielsen, DO, PGY5
