International Student Admissions Process

Step 1: Online Application
Submit a completed online application along with the admission requirements for your program of interest.

Step 2: Credential Evaluation
Students with credentials from a foreign institution must have that credential evaluated by a NACES approved evaluating agency at the time of application. Evaluation must indicate that the student has earned the equivalent of at least a US bachelor’s degree.

Step 3: Proof of English Language Proficiency
International applicants are required to submit official copies of successful scores from either the TOEFL or IELTS exam taken within two years. The TOEFL/IELTS score requirement is waived for students who meet at least one of the exemptions below:

1. Students who are transferring from U.S. institutions with at least 24 credits earned at that institution, not including basic skills courses.
2. Students who have successfully completed Rowan’s Intensive English Language Program (IELP) within the past two years of the applied semester’s start date.
3. If your credential evaluation states that you have earned the equivalent of a bachelor’s degree and that the language of instruction was in English.
4. Students who graduated from school in a country where English is the prevailing language (United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand), even if the credential evaluation fails to state the language of instruction.”

Step 4: Application Review
You will be notified when your application is complete and being reviewed by our admissions committee. If accepted, you will receive an offer letter which needs to be mailed back with your admissions deposit. It is then recommended that you visit the Rowan International Center for steps on obtaining your visa through your arrival to the USA.

Recommended minimum scores for PhD program:
Our university receives a large volume of applications annually from foreign countries. Since our entering PhD class consists of only about 5-8 students each year, competition for acceptance forces us to be highly selective in our admission criteria. In addition to meeting the admissions criteria, we also look for a demonstration of interest and experience in basic research, especially in areas that complement the research interests of our faculty.

Examination Recommended Minimum Score
GRE Verbal 150
GRE Math 155
TOEFL: Internet Based 93

Recommended minimum English proficiency scores for masters programs:

Examination Recommended Minimum Score
TOEFL: Computer Based 213
TOEFL: Paper Based 550
TOEFL: Internet Based 79
IELTS 6.0

GRE/TOEFL school code is 2610

We hope you consider applying to Rowan University. Please be sure to review additional admissions requirements.

Please remember, due to the geographical distance between our two locations, international students are discouraged from applying for the Master of Science in Molecular Pathology and Immunology program unless you own an automobile and have a valid USA driver's license at the time of arrival to the United States as this is a requirement.
