Tuition Scholarship for Dependents, Spouse, Domestic/Civil Union Partners

The Rowan University Tuition Scholarship for dependents application has gone online!

Beginning with the winter and spring 2017 semesters, employees will no longer submit the tuition scholarship applications for their dependents. Their dependent will be responsible to apply for this scholarship in the same manner that they apply for all of the university's scholarships, through the following link:

All of the required information for the application must be submitted online. As a reminder, for a dependent to qualify for the Tuition Scholarship, the following is required:

  • The employee has worked for Rowan University in a full time permanent position for one year or more.
  • A copy of the most recent tax return indication the student is the legal dependent of the employee
  • The student must maintain a 2.5 GPA or higher

Deadlines for All Applications

A new application should be submitted each semester that the student enrolls to the Human Resources office by the deadline dates. Employees and students receiving tuition waivers and scholarships follow the same Bursar processes as paying students regarding billing due dates and classes dropped for non-payment.

Tuition Waiver for HPAE Employees

HPAE bargaining unit members are eligible for tuition waiver at Rowan University for classes taken for credit.

An employee must be employed by Rowan SOM on a full-time permanent basis prior to the start of the semester in which the tuition waiver is being requested.

Employees may take credits at any level: undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral. Under this program, employees are eligible for 12 credit hours per semester, not to exceed 24 annually.

Eligible employees should apply for the tuition waiver using the Tuition Waiver Form. This triplicate form can be obtained from the Human Resources office. The fully completed form (white, yellow, and pink copies) must be sent to the Glassboro Human Resources office for processing.

Managerial Employees

Effective January 2017, SOM Managerial staff are eligible for tuition reimbursement/waivers.

It is recognized that while members of the managerial staff possess the appropriate terminal degree at the time of their hire, there may be circumstances when it is appropriate for managers to take additional coursework, either leading to the attainment of another degree or to enhance their skill set, expertise, or educational experience. In these circumstances, upon the approval of the manager’s supervisors up to and including the vice president/division head, managers may take courses on campus with a tuition waiver or off-campus with a partial tuition reimbursement, not to exceed nine (9) credits per calendar year.

Educational Assistance Program for Employees in Bargaining Units not eligible for Tuition Waiver

To receive benefits described in this policy, staff members and registered nurses must meet the criteria shown below:

Prior to the submission of an Application for Tuition Assistance, must have completed at least one year of continuous regularly scheduled service working twenty (20) or more hours a week and are in an active pay status (i.e. eligible to receive a paycheck). Temporary, Per Diem employees are not eligible. The following titles are not eligible: students, PGY’s, post doctoral fellows, fellows, or faculty.

Current performance evaluation must be satisfactory or better.

All eligible employees may receive up to a maximum of $3,120 per calendar year for courses completed with a passing grade of C or better.

Tuition waiver for Local 68 employees

Operating Engineers Local 68 bargaining unit members are eligible for tuition waiver at Rowan University for classes taken for credit.

An employee must be employed by Rowan SOM on a full-time permanent basis prior to the start of the semester in which the tuition waiver is being requested.

Employees may take credits at any level: undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral. Under this program, employees are eligible for 12 credit hours per semester, not to exceed 24 annually.

FOP Local 74 bargaining unit members are eligible for tuition waiver at Rowan University for classes taken for credit.

Employees may take credits at any level: undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral. Under this program, employees are eligible for 12 credit hours per semester, not to exceed 24 annually.
