Current and Former Trainees

Current Fellows

Sandra Ferrara, DMD graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University with a degree in Biology.  She received her Doctor of Dental Medicine from Tufts University and was in private practice before deciding to pursue geriatric dentistry training.  Dr. Ferrara is a first-year fellow.

Drew Maygren, DO graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in Zoology. He received his Doctor of Osteopathy from Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his Psychiatry-tracked internship at UMDNJ-SOM. He is participating in a 3+2 Psychiatry/Geriatric Psychiatry training program. Dr. Maygren is a second-year fellow.

John Pennisi, DO graduated from The College of New Jersey with degree in Biology and a minor in Chemistry.  He received his Doctor of Osteopathy from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey School of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his Family Medicine Residency at UMDNJ-SOM/RowanSOM.  Dr. Pennisi is a first-year fellow.

Tony Tran, DO graduated from Johns Hopkins University with a degree in Biomedical Engineering. He received his Doctor of Osteopathy from A.T. Still University-Kirksville School of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his Family Medicine residency at Brookhaven Memorial Hospital in New York. Dr. Tran is a second-year fellow.

 

Program Graduates Honors & Awards

Christian White, DO (Class of 2012) was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society in August, 2014.

Stephen Scheinthal, DO, dFACN, DFAPA (Class of 1997) was appointed Chair of the RowanSOM Department of Psychiatry, effective July 1, 2014.

Samuel Zwetchkenbaum, DDS, MPH (Class of 2014) won 2nd Prize at the 22nd Annual Eastern Pennsylvania Geriatrics Society Research Night in May, 2014.

Wayne Carlsen, DO, FACOI (Class of 1991) was appointed Chair of the Board of Directors of the National Board of Osteopathic Medical Examiners to serve from December, 2013.  Dr. Carlsen also received the RowanSOM 2014 Distinguished Alumni Award in August, 2014.
