We believe weight management is an ongoing, lifetime process while weight loss is just a phase you pass through on the way to managing your weight. Weight management gives you a healthy way to live beyond the weight loss phase.

Too many people diet just to lose weight and gain it all back because when the dieting ends, bad habits return. Unsupervised, unhealthy weight loss prepares the body to gain weight rather than keep weight off. When your body loses weight, it goes through drastic physiological and metabolic changes. Medically monitoring and managing these changes as they occur, helps the body safely and successfully lose weight to keep it off.

In-Depth Medical Evaluation

Before Dr. Gupta creates your own customized medically monitored weight loss program, you will undergo an in-depth medical evaluation including:

  • A complete review of your overall health history
  • A complete review of all of the medications and supplements that you may be taking to determine if they are preventing you from losing weight.
  • A complete dietary, exercise/activity level, psychological, social and sleep assessment.
  • A comprehensive blood test to check for insulin resistance, thyroid function, and other factors.
  • An EKG (electro-cardiogram) and physical exam to check heart function and overall health.

Using this information, Dr. Gupta will create a program that will help you safely and effectively lose weigh and, most importantly, keep it off.

Sound Medical Analysis

Dr. Gupta will analyze various factors, including your basal metabolic rate (BMR) and your body’s composition of water, muscle, and fat to accurately predict the optimal amount of weight you will be able to safely lose over a specific period of time.

Safe and Effective Weight Loss

If we diet incorrectly, our bodies tend to burn muscle before they burn fat. The more muscle you lose the less easily you burn fat and more easily you gain back any weight you've lost. This sort of improper dieting leads to yo-yo weight changes and is inherently unsafe.

Medically supervised weight loss is different. By consistently monitoring your body composition and adjusting your program accordingly, we make sure you burn fat, not muscle so you don't just lose weight, but have an easier time keeping the weight off in the future.

Behavior Modification and One-on-One Support

You will see Dr. Gupta every time you come for a visit. He will work with you one-on-one to help you sort myth from fact so you understand why your current nutritional habits are unhealthy and how they have affected you in the past.
