Placement Testing:

  • Are the placement tests timed?
    No, they are not timed.
  • When are the placement tests offered?
    They are typically offered on a walk-in basis for first time testers Monday and Wednesday between 9:00am-11:00am and 1:00pm-3:00pm. Other times may be available by appointment. Challenge tests (re-testing) are done by appointment by calling the testing coordinator at 856-256-4263 or emailing
  • Do I need an appointment to take my placement test?
    No appointment is necessary the first time the test is taken, they are administered on a walk in basis. Appointments are only required for challenges (or re-tests).
  • How long are the placement tests?
    they are not timed, they usually take on average 35-45 minutes per test.
  • How much does it cost to take the placement test?
    The first time the placement is taken there is no cost. If a desired score is not attained, you may challenge (re-test) for a $25.00 fee (cash, check or money order only).
  • What do my test scores mean?
    Please refer to our Course_Placement_Information sheet for test score information.
  • Can I use a calculator?
    Yes. You may bring in your own calculator, however we do have a small supply available for loan should you forget your own.
  • How can I study for the test?

  • When is the MAT offered?
    MAT tests are administered by appointment only by calling the testing coordinator at 856-256-4263 or emailing
  • How much does the MAT test cost?
    the fee for taking the MAT test is $85.00 (cash, check or money order only).
  • How is the MAT test administered?
    The MAT test is a computer based test.

Clep Testing:

  • When is the CLEP test offered?
    the CLEP test is offered by appointment by calling or emailing the Testing Center at 856-256-4263 or
  • How much does the CLEP test cost?
    there is a $30.00 Rowan fee that can be paid in cash, check or money order (no credit/debit card payments can be accepted at this time for this $30.00 fee). In addition to the Rowan fee there is a CLEP fee of $80.00 that must be paid via credit/debit card online at the time of the test. The total cost to the student is $110.00.


  • How much is tutoring?
    Tutoring is free to Rowan Students.

  • How do I request a tutor?

    The Rowan Success Network (RSN) gives you an easy way to schedule tutoring appointments. You have to “enable cookies” on your computer to use this program. The Starfish system requires that you accept browser cookies. Please enable cookies or switch to a browser that supports cookies. If you have cookies enabled but continue to see a page indicating you need to enable cookies, your browser settings may prevent Starfish from setting cookies. You need to switch browsers.For help resolving this issue,view the help link on the page.

    Get to the RSN by going to Log-in and view your Home page. On the right you will see a list of courses you are presently registered for, and there will be a link…  see available appointments…  if tutoring is available for the course. Click on the available appointments link, and use the mini calendar located on the top left of the page to find the day you want to schedule an appointment. Click on the desired day to view the available appointments. Click on the desired appointment then click on Next at the bottom of the page.  The next page will display the tutor’s name day and time of appointment … click on Schedule at the bottom of the page to finalize the appointment. You will receive an email reminder of your scheduled appointment. You can schedule tutoring appointments whenever necessary.

    If you need to cancel a scheduled appointment, find the appointment on your Upcoming Appointments list on the left side of your Home page in RSN. Click on the icon at the beginning of the line. This will bring up a menu that will allow you to cancel or edit the appointment. Cancellations should be made at least one hour prior to the scheduled tutoring session. It will be noted in RSN whenever an appointment has been made and the student fails to attend. 

    If tutoring is not available for your particular course then please contact with your name, email address, name of course and your available hours for tutoring. We will try to accommodate your request.

  • How can I become a tutor?
    You may fill out the Tutor_Applicationand submit it to Bonnie Wilson via email at or, or hand it in person on the 3rd floor of Savitz Hall room 304.
