Guidelines for Students using Tutorial Services

  1. Students signing up for individual and small group tutoring are making a commitment to use this service. Due to the large number of requests for tutors, it is important that students attend all scheduled sessions. It is the student's responsibility to notify the Tutoring Center at 256-4460 if unable to attend a session. Once a student has missed 2 sessions without prior notice, his/her time slot will be given to another student.
  2. Tutoring is not a substitute for going to class, doing homework or studying. Please do not ask the tutors to do your work for you.
  3. Your tutor is knowledgeable in the subject, but he/she is not the professor. If the tutor does not know the answer to your question, he/she will be able to help you find the answer by helping you formulate a question so you can then ask the professor for clarification.
  4. Tutoring is most effective when you come prepared. Bring notes, textbooks and any work-in-progress. Have specific questions prepared for the tutor and be sure to read assigned material and attempt some problems before you come to the sessions.
  5. If for any reason you are dissatisfied with the service expected from the tutor, please contact the coordinator at 856-256-4462.
