When preparing for an interview, make sure to dress appropriately. Below are some guidelines to help you.
MEN

Grooming:
- You should be well groomed from head to toe.
- Avoid wearing earrings or pierced objects in visible body parts.
- Shave- remove tiny facial hairs or five o'clock shadow from face.
- Nails should be clean and smooth at the tips.
- Hair should be well managed (a haircut is recommended).
- Avoid wearing ponytails or braids.
- Shoes should be polished.
- Use shoetrees to help preserve your shoes.
- Refrain from wearing cologne.
- Apply lotion or ointment to dry skin areas. (hands or lips)
- Teeth should be brushed.
- Check yourself for bad breath!
Attire:
- Wear a business type suit. Navy blue, black or dark gray. (No jeans or sports jacket).
- Always wear a white shirt to an interview. Do not wear silk. Wear an undershirt to absorb perspiration.
- Tie should match the suit. Avoid wearing a fancy tie or bow tie.
- Suit jacket should be button except for the last button. (Four button single breasted is the limit)
- Belt and suspenders: Wear one or the other. Never wear both.
- Your socks should match your pants or shoes.
- Carry a briefcase or portfolio instead of a backpack.
WOMEN

Grooming:
- You should be well groomed from head to toe
- Avoid wearing pierced objects in visible body parts.
- Nails should be clean and smooth at the tips.
- Choose a hair style that compliments your face.
- If you wear make-up, maintain a natural look.
- Use shoetrees to help preserve your shoes.
- Polish your shoes as often as necessary.
- Apply lotion or ointment to dry skin areas (hands or lips).
- Teeth should be brushed.
- Check yourself for bad breath!
Attire:
- Wear a business type suit or dress that provides a classic look and conveys a sense of authority.
- Skirt should be knee length.
- Navy or black skirted suit is most professional; gray and taupe are wardrobe basics also.
- A jacket or blazer can dress up a nice dress.
- Conservative shoes (basic pump), not open-toed or sling-back.
- Heel should be no higher than 1-2 inches.
- Minimal jewelry
- Minimal make-up
- Refrain from wearing perfume or cologne.
- Blouses are nice to wear in different combinations with suits. Stick to basic solids, avoid low necklines, and be sure they are well pressed.
- You can allow your accessories to reflect your personality, but remember to fit the environment in which you have placed yourself.
- Carry a briefcase or portfolio instead of a purse or backpack.
